Call for Nominations: 2024-2025 Board of Directors

Dear SMPS Washington, DC Members:

On behalf of the SMPS Washington, DC Chapter Nominations and Elections Committee, I invite your nominations for open positions on the 2024–2025 Chapter Board of Directors.
The opportunity to make a career-enhancing impact has never been greater. The SMPS DC Chapter seeks leaders who can enact resilient strategies to support our members within the evolving AEC industry in the DC metro region.

 Board of Directors

The Board of Directors makes decisions regarding the chapter’s programs, financial health, community involvement, and strategic priorities. Board members are expected to commit 8-15 hours monthly to SMPS, primarily for committee meetings, monthly board meetings, and chapter programs. Positions currently accepting nominations for the 2024–2025 SMPS DC Board include:

●        President-Elect. This is a three-year commitment (one year for each - president-elect, president, and past president). To be eligible for this position, a member must have at least one year of service on the Board.

●        Secretary.  This is a two-year commitment. To be eligible for this position, a member must have at least one year of service on the Board. The Secretary is also part of the executive committee.

●        Director-at-Large. This is a two-year commitment to chair a committee. To be eligible for this position, a member must be in good standing as of June 2024. Current Director-at-Large positions accepting nominations include:

o   Communications

o   Member Engagement

o   SMRT/BDRT

o   Special Events

 Nomination Process

As the current President-Elect, I chair the Nominations and Elections Committee. I will be joined by our President, Abby Harrington, and four other members with 10+ years of experience who represent the diversity and leadership of our chapter. The election of the new board will be held in June 2024. 

●        Self-nominations are invited and encouraged

●        Submit completed nomination forms to Suzanne Swistak, President-Elect and Nominations and Elections Committee Chair, at [email protected].  

●        Nominations must be submitted by Friday, April 26, 2024.

●        Successful candidates will be notified upon determination, and the slate will be presented for chapter vote in June 2024.

●        All new Board member terms for the 2024–2025 program year will begin September 1, 2024.
