Event Recap: Honor Flight

Posted on Jun. 8, 2017  /  Event Recap, Community Outreach  /  0

Last month, SMPS DC members gathered at Reagan National Airport to greet an Honor Flight of World War II veterans. The nonprofit organization provides vets with the opportunity to fly to Washington, DC, to visit the memorials dedicated to honor the service and sacrifices these veterans and their friends made. In 2016, Honor Flight was fortunate enough to fly more than 20,000 vets to our nation’s capital. As volunteers, we were first in line to greet the 75 vets from the Twin Cities Honor flight, cheering for them and shaking their hands as they arrived. Honor Flight trips are typically only for a day and visit agendas usually include the WWII Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, Lincoln Memorial, FDR Memorial and Air Force Memorial.
