SMPS DC kicked off 2024 in a showstopping way with our first special event of the year, More in 2024: A Networking, Charity + Comedy Extravaganza. More than 40 SMPS members and AEC professionals gathered at The Filling Station, a private performance space in the heart of the Ballston Exchange, for a memorable evening of connecting with friends, supporting Ronald McDonald House of Greater Washington DC, and filling the room with laughter.
Networking took place over drinks and Tex-Mex fare. Chapter President Abby Harrington provided opening remarks including the outcome of the strategic action planning session held by the Board the previous week. SMPS DC’s goal is to position itself as the community of valued subject matter experts for marketing and BD in the AEC industry. We will release more details once we finalize the strategic action plan.
After opening remarks, the comedy show began and delivered consistent laughs throughout the hour. The entertainment provided a unique way to bond with industry peers in a relaxed environment. Thank you to our comics who put on a wonderful show: Winston Hodges, Heather Joyce, Kim Villamera, and our host, Jessica Gillette, CPSM, our Special Events Director.
Additionally, over 350 pounds of non-perishable food items and cleaning supplies and a handful of gift cards for RMHGDC were collected. These donations deeply benefit the children and families in our community, and we thank everyone who donated to this cause.
